This is a full-time position, located in Huntsville, AL.Duties: This position provides support to Naval Health Resources. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Apply analytical methods from mathematics, statistics, and operations research to develop simulation and mathematical models of systems. Conduct systems and operational analysis to include problem definition, analysis, and post processing of data. Interface with study sponsors. Author technical documents, white papers, and presentations. Support systems engineering activities, algorithm design, and development of analytical software tools. May also conduct independent research and analysis activities for a variety of DoD sponsors...typically studies of expeditionary medical systems, but logistics and missile defense applications are possible as well.Required Qualifications: BS in Mathematics, Industrial Engineering (IE), or Operations Research (OR), with 2-10 years' work experience. Master's degree preferred. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required. A foundational understanding of probability and statistics is required. Strong knowledge of modeling and simulation concepts, methods, and appropriate statistical analysis methods for output data is required. Must have a thorough understanding and experience in analytic processes, simulations, and tools used to support major acquisition decisions. Must be self-motivated with the ability to rapidly learn and apply new technical concepts in a complex environment supporting models and simulations, analysis, scenarios, and studies. Must have experience in the conduct of analysis to support acquisition activities as described in the Joint Concept Integration System (JCIDS). Prospective candidate must be able to critically review, staff, and present analyses to senior leaders, including study advisory groups or other oversight organizations. Prospective candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, highly complex environment and operate independently. Must be proficient in the development of critical issues and metrics, design of study events to investigate alternatives, execution of data analysis, and reporting of results. Must be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Visio. Must be knowledgeable in the use of statistical software programs (Excel, SPSS, Minitab, etc.).Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL) is desirable. Proficiency in a data analysis or scripting programming language (MATLAB, R, SAS, Python, Perl etc.) is desirable. Knowledge of mathematical programming for optimization is desirable. A basic understanding of object oriented programming is desirable. Experience in the application of US Army constructive and virtual M&S is preferred. Experience in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense is preferred. Prior military experience desired, primary being US Air Force, other services in succession.Security Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
